Signature Experience

Chimpanzee Tracking

Deep in the forest, in the company of our nearest relatives

Chimpanzee tracking is a raw, exhilarating encounter with our closest living relatives. In the ancient forests of Kibale, Nyungwe, and Kibira, habituated communities of chimpanzees go about their daily lives — feeding, playing, grooming, and occasionally erupting into displays of raw energy that echo through the canopy. Unlike gorilla trekking's quiet intimacy, chimp tracking is fast-paced, unpredictable, and utterly compelling.

What Makes This Experience Special

  • Kibale Forest, Uganda — the highest density of primates in Africa
  • Nyungwe Forest, Rwanda — canopy walks combined with chimp tracking
  • Kibira Forest, Burundi — remote and rarely visited chimp habitat
  • Chimp habituation experiences — full-day immersion with researchers
  • 13 primate species in Kibale alone, including red colobus and L'Hoest's monkey
  • Best combined with gorilla trekking for the ultimate primate safari
